We’re Dr. Kristin and Dr. Louisa, board-certified pediatricians and founders of MamaDoc Rx.

What we know about Pediatrics, supplements and
complementary and alternative medicine.

A survey on the use of dietary supplements by North American children 1–10 years of age showed that 52 % of the parents offered some type of supplement to their children, especially: multivitamins, probiotics, minerals and omega-3. (CS Motts Children’s hospital National Poll on Children’s Health 4/18/22)

  • A National Survey Pediatricians showed Most (87%) had been asked about CAM by a patient/parent in the 3 months prior to the survey, Most (66%) believed that CAM therapies could enhance recovery or relieve symptoms, but even more were concerned about possible side effects (75%) or that CAM use might delay mainstream care (74%). Over 80% of pediatricians desired additional information on CAM; the highest priorities were information about herbs, dietary supplements, nutritional therapies, and therapeutic exercise.
  • In the 2001 AAP Periodic Survey number 49, “Complementary and Alternative Therapies in Pediatric Practice,” most pediatricians (72.8%) agreed they should provide patients with information about all potential treatment options but reported they had little or no knowledge of complementary or alternative therapies.

What if we told you we could offer natural health options designed to be used alongside first line treatments for specific indications, created by pediatricians, with research to support safety and efficacy?

What if we told you we would also provide links to the research, a discussion of risk/benefit and indications.

What if we also told you that we only work with cGMP certified facilities that are 3rd party verified and feature high quality majority USDA certified organic ingredients without additional additives, artificial flavoring, coloring or sugary sticky gummies that promote cavities?

Our mission at MamaDoc Rx is two fold. We aim to:

Raise the bar for natural health supplements for kids and teens by offering the formulas healthcare providers would choose to recommend for their patients.

And secondly, to channel our passion for health education with evidence-based resources for healthcare professionals and consumers about a variety of topics from deep dives into the research behind our ingredients to helpful tips on children’s health topics and parenting.

Our Commitment

What makes MamaDoc Rx different at its core is that we are approaching natural health products, supplements and CAM through the lens of board-certified physicians. We create formulas not as substitutes to evidence-based practices, but as clinically sound and safe options to incorporate into comprehensive care. Transparency is at the heart of what we do. We understand that for some supplements, the research may be promising, but still emerging. In those cases our first priority is to establish safety. If there is solid safety data and promising odds of benefit, we’ll be honest about that so providers and patients can make an informed decision.

We’re doctors, we believe wholeheartedly in science and the expertise of healthcare professionals and we also want to meet the growing demand for natural health options by offering safe, science-backed formulas. We want to empower medical professionals to have informed and nuanced conversations with their patients about the relevant research showing certain vitamins, supplements can provide genuine benefits.
